Counties considering joint transit

TRUMAN - An inter-county transit system is still a number of years out, but the wheels are spinning between Martin and Faribault counties.

Martin and Faribault County commissioners, along with a Minnesota Department of Transportation representative, met Friday to discuss possibilities and concerns.

FAIRMONT - A couple of years ago, Kay Sauck saw a picture on the Internet of a Memorial Day tribute at a cemetery. She thought the crosses, U.S. flags and luminaries looked amazing together, and that image stuck with her.

This year, Sauck, publisher of Womeninc magazine in Fairmont, is leading a Memorial Day weekend tribute that plays off the image that impressed her so much.

Martig may be leaving Blue Earth

BLUE EARTH - Ben Martig, Blue Earth's city administrator, was unanimously chosen for the same job in Marshall by the City Council and two committees this week.

Martig told Marshall he would need a day or two to decide whether to accept.

Marshall Mayor Robert Byrnes hopes that at the next council meeting on Monday, the city and Martig can sign the job agreement.

Easy Energy receives grant

WELCOME - Easy Energy Systems, as part of Easy Automation, recently received $25,000 from Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation.

The funds are from the foundation's newly created Bio Seed fund, and are awarded to businesses developing new products and processes related to bio-agriculture.

Scott Adams selected as chief deputy

BLUE EARTH - Scott Adams can't put his finger on exactly why he went into law enforcement, but it's something he wanted to do since he was a young child.

Adams started serving the public in 1994 when he became a patrol officer for the Winnebago Police Department.
